Here is the offical street sign to our road. Yes, it is spray painted onto a piece of wood at the corner of our two dirt roads... No, this is not indicative of the house and the way it looks...
We finally got the house closed this afternoon. We had little problems here and there that bit us all the way up to the signing of the documents. Now, we are official!
Here is the outside entry way to the new house! The color of the house is Dangerous Robot... It is a really cool gray color which can change shades as the light hits it at different angles. If you look closely at the reflection in the glass, you can see the port-a-potty from the front yard of the house. Yes, it is still there...
Here is the view of the formal living room and wet bar that you see when you step in the front door. No, there is no furniture there. We found out it will take about 5 - 6 weeks for the couch that we liked to come in. We are going to do a "sitting area" in this room and do bar stools around the wet bar. My spinning wheel and chair will also go in this room in front of the windows. This room has 10 foot ceilings, so the windows are between 8 and 8.5 feet tall. It adds a TON of natural lighting to the room!
This is the bathtub in the master bath... I forsee a future of bath salts, bubble baths and candles here...
The rest of the master bath...
I couldn't get one really good shot of the kitchen, but here is the closest I could come to getting it on one picture...
Now that the house is ours, time to head back to ABQ and pack up the truck and head back with stuff, kid, cats, dogs, bird and iguana in tow. We will be spending Turkey Day up in NM (with dinner at the casino since all of the family is out of town this weekend) and we will head out from there back to the new house sometime on Friday afternoon/Friday evening... The moving van will be at the new house on Saturday, along with the satellite dish people.
Down here, it takes 1.5 weeks to get a refrigerator delivered from Home Depot. The fridge is really nice, but hubby and kiddo will have to live out of a cooler until then. Did I mention that the nearest food of any type is about 15 miles away? There is NO cable out in this neck of the woods, let alone any type of high speed internet access or DSL... I feel like I am going back to where I grew up. We saw a field with a bunch of sheepies on our way back to the house yesterday. They were cool! Remind me to let everyone know about this really awesome furniture store called IKEA that we found here in town... OMG!
